Dr. Hutzenbuhler earned her medical degree in 1989 from the University of Kansas. She then left the Midwest and completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Duke University. Dr. Hutzenbuhler moved to California to attend the UCLA Integrated Program in Digestive Diseases, where she successfully completed her fellowship in Gastroenterology in 1994. She has been practicing in the area for over 15 years, and most recently has joined the Raleigh Medical Group.

She has been married for almost 30 years to her husband who is a CPA and local business owner. They have two teen-age children. Needless to say, she is quite busy, but proud of her abilities to juggle many responsibilities. Dr. Hutzenbuhler’s “free-time” is mostly consumed managing children’s activities and sports. They enjoy traveling, especially cruising and visiting National Parks. They are avid sports fans, especially fond of the Wolfpacks and the Jayhawks. They are very involved in their church, Good Shepherd Lutheran. She also enjoys crossword puzzles, reading best-selling novels, and going to concerts.
